BabyNerd (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates babynerd.com. This page explains what information we collect when you visit our site, how we use it, and your choices.

Information We Collect

Information collected automatically

When you visit babynerd.com, we automatically collect certain technical information through cookies and similar technologies:

  • Pages you visit and how long you spend on them
  • Your approximate geographic location (country and region level only)

  • Referring website (how you found us)
  • Date and time of your visit

This data is collected through Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and is aggregated. It does not personally identify you. We use this information to understand which content is useful and to improve the site.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Our site uses them for:

  • Analytics: Google Analytics sets cookies (e.g., _ga, _ga_*) to distinguish unique visitors and track site usage. These expire after 2 years of inactivity.
  • Site functionality: WordPress uses session cookies to keep the site working properly. These are temporary and expire when you close your browser.
  • Affiliate tracking: When you click an affiliate link, the destination retailer (such as Amazon) may set cookies on your device to track that referral. These cookies are governed by the retailer’s privacy policy, not ours.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Disabling cookies may affect some site functionality but will not prevent you from reading our content.

  • Amazon Associates and other affiliate programs: When you click an affiliate link and visit a retailer’s site, that retailer’s privacy policy governs any data they collect. We encourage you to review those policies.
  • Hostinger: Web hosting. Your connection to our site passes through Hostinger’s servers. Hostinger’s Privacy Policy
  • WordPress.org: Our content management system. WordPress itself does not collect visitor data, but some WordPress plugins may. We only use plugins from reputable providers.

Data Retention

Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics settings (currently 14 months). Contact form submissions are retained only as long as needed to respond to your inquiry and are then deleted.

Children’s Privacy

BabyNerd provides product research for parents and caregivers. Our site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through our contact form, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Your Privacy Rights

All visitors

Regardless of where you live, you can:

  • Opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the browser add-on
  • Block or delete cookies through your browser settings
  • Contact us to request deletion of any information you’ve submitted

California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect and how we use it
  • Request deletion of your personal information
  • Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights

We do not sell personal information as defined by the CCPA. Our use of Google Analytics may constitute “sharing” under the CPRA. You can opt out by using the Google Analytics opt-out tool linked above.

European visitors (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, you have additional rights including the right to access, rectify, port, and erase your personal data, as well as the right to restrict or object to processing. Our legal basis for processing analytics data is legitimate interest in understanding site usage.

Other state and regional privacy laws

If you are a resident of a state or jurisdiction with consumer privacy legislation (such as Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, or others), you may have similar rights to those described above. Contact us to exercise any applicable rights.

Do Not Track

Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. There is no industry standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals. Our site does not currently respond to DNT signals, but you can opt out of tracking using the methods described above.
